Owning
a Mothers & Miracles franchise is an enriching experience – both
personally and financially. The workshop is a wonderful opportunity to earn a
substantial income from home, and at the same time to be with your own children,
provide stimulation and friends for them, and to enrich the lives of others. It
also provides growth for yourself in terms of business skills, confidence as a
communicator, and in-depth knowledge of your own child’s development.
The Target Market
Middle to upper
income mothers who recognise the advantages of early learning, and who need
the social contact with other moms. Clients are mostly housewives or women
working from home, but working moms are also catered for by afternoon and
Saturday classes (the latter are optional).
Pricing Policy
There are four terms per year and 10
sessions per term. Being a service-based business, the overheads are generally low and the return
high.
Running Expenses
(Overheads)
These are
tea/coffee, juice and snacks, extra materials for workshops (e.g. cardboard,
matchboxes, textures for sandpits etc.). Management fees to head office become
payable only after 3 months, which
includes ongoing head office support, stationery and advertising material,
central admin, organising group outings etc.
Location
Each client will be
allocated a clearly demarcated exclusive geographic area, possessing
sufficient demographic potential to sustain a good client base. A Mother &
Child Workshop can be run from a home with a double garage or a large family
room (36m2), a garden, and accessible toilet facilities.
Franchise
Costs
The costs of
starting a Mothers and Miracles Workshop include the Initial Franchise fee
(R24 000), and
set-up costs (±R15 000).
Initial
Franchise Fee
The initial
franchise fee is paid for the actual franchise rights. This fee covers full
training (on early childhood development, how to run a successful business,
marketing, basic accounting, running an actual workshop etc.
It also gives you
rights to geographic exclusivity, marketing materials and stationery, and
extensive advertising (e.g.. monthly advertisements in national media), and membership of a growing and exciting team.
Set
- up costs
Set up costs are
the costs involved in actually starting the workshop. In order to maintain the
same high standards throughout the group, it is specified exactly what you
must buy. This list includes toys and equipment, musical instruments, plastic
sandpits, jungle gym, sundries ( e.g.. cassette player, answering machine ),
carpets, curtains, shelving , paint etc. These costs amount to R10-15 000,
depending on whether you have any of these things, or choose to rent a jungle
gym.
